Army rolls down into New Jersey this weekend looking for revenge (again) against Rutgers at the Meadowlands. At 4-2 and sporting one of the nation’s top sack leaders, the Knights are starting to get some attention.
My photo of senior Josh McNary was featured in a story in today’s New York Daily News hyping West Point’s upcoming dates with Rutgers and Notre Dame.
West Point previews the game at Rutgers with my photo of Ty Shrader recovering a fumble against Temple.
An interesting note from senior captain Steve Anderson (who chronicles his life on Twitter), who said the upcoming Rutgers battle is “the most important game of our season.” He also noted something that head coach Rich Ellerson repeatedly stressed in pre-season workouts:
“One of our top season goals has been met,” Anderson said. “We want to lead the nation in turnover margin. After six games, we are in first place. It is not always the toughest to achieve a goal, but to maintain it. As a team we know this, and we are not slowing down one bit.”
Anderson’s full blog — also with my photo — is here. The linebacker is coming off surgery that shortened his junior season and tweeted a day after beating Tulane that his “knee hurts but head feels good. I’m great.”
Let’s hope the big man’s knees hold up. Saturday is shaping up to be nice — 60 and cloudy — with Rutgers coming off a loss at Tulane and a win over UCONN.
I’m still working on getting something worthy into Sports Illustrated, but for now, here’s a couple more screenshots of my McNary photo in the Daily News (page 75):
