I’m waiting for my flight at Ft. Lauderdale Int’l Airport and enjoying some free wi-fi, so here’s a few photos from yesterday’s Cardinals walk-off win over the Mets in Jupiter.
The above shot of St. Louis shortstop Brendan Ryan came with a little luck — I moved over to the first base photo well for one inning, but was severely limited by the television cameraman, who took up pretty much the entire area — all I could really shoot was across the diamond at second and short, and the pitcher (Adam Wainwright, a right-hander, so it wasn’t really worth it).
Anyway someone hit a line drive deep in the hole and Ryan bare-handed it and fired over to first for the out, I got the whole sequence but liked this one the best, especially with the nice clean background.
Ryan had a nice game — 2-for-3, a double, a run, some nice defense, and I think it was also his first start for St. Louis this spring.
That shot of Ryan made it on the St. Louis Cardinals’ website Saturday evening. Gotta love the big old school Redbirds socks too… (I should note, the screenshot below with the typo was taken before the site went live, its correct fo’ real now)
This a long but entertaining game — Mets prosect Ike Davis homered to tie it in the ninth before former Met Ruben Gotay hit a walk-off shot to left-center in the bottom of the inning. I’ll try and post some more when I get back to New York!
