Am I just bad luck?
I went to about four Army hockey games this winter, and watched (glanced at during commercials) parts of another on TV, and saw exactly zero wins. Granted, they weren’t exactly Team Canada this season, but all I saw were losses and ties.
That was the story last Saturday when Army took a 2-0 lead (which I missed seeing because I was watching the men’s basketball team choke against Bucknell) and blow it to American in the third, settling for a 2-2 tie.
American goalkeeper Ben Meisner asked me for the photo above — at least someone likes my photos.
The tie was only the beginning of a memorable night; I got stopped by a cop right after leaving post — he asked me what the score of the game was, and then handed me a ticket. Nice.
Have to excuse me for being miserable, it’s been a rough week. First I met this cop, which ruined a really enjoyable night (I took my sister to see her very first hockey and basketball games). It’s been pretty busy at the office lately as we approach Opening Day, and then last night, I found my truck parked at the train station, suddenly missing my “Beat Navy” window decal. Thanks.
Anyway – the game. It was senior night, Army honored several graduating players, including backup goalie Joe Spracklen, captain Eric Sefchik and forward Owen Meyer. Here’s Joe with his awesome helmet:
Depending on how deflated and beaten I feel, I think my next topic will be about New York state’s lovable, popular Governor David Paterson’s impending plan of shutting down Minnewaska State Park.
