I’ve been meaning to post some of my Army football photos from 2009, whether you want to see the photos or not. You’ve gone this far, might as well stick around and look at this point. Or leave, whatever.
Army hosted the Keydets of VMI in their home finale at Michie Stadium and what felt like the seventh rainy day of the season at West Point. I took my dad to his first Army game in probably 40 years, and he couldn’t stop talking about it the rest of the weekend… an afternoon as West Point has that affect on people.
Even the rainy, misty, cold weather couldn’t ruin the afternoon — consider it football weather, even — and it actually helped in creating some decent overcast sunlight for me.
Army’s defense held up, as usual, but the game came down to the final minutes.
Rain or shine, the Corps of Cadets supports its team, standing in the west stands all game, soaked and cold and loud. Junior LB Stephen Anderson joined the team on crutches after an injury ended his season weeks earlier.
I written before about keeping the grey sea of cadets in the background, and in fact that location is changing in 2010 — the academy is moving the cadet seating area to the east stands (near Lusk Reservoir), so I’ll have to be mindful of that next fall. But you can get a feel for it here:
I’ll have to do a Part II of the VMI game, I have lots more to show off. Any requests? Shoot me an email, [email protected] or leave me some feedback here.
