Exploring the frozen Croton Dam

[tw_dropcap]M[/tw_dropcap]y winter hiking and exploring came to an abrupt end after this year’s Eagle Fest — I got slammed by the flu the next day and really never got back outside to play. But I did manage to hit up Eagle Fest (an annual event run by Tea Town that offers eagle-spotting locations, guided bird walks, educational lectures and live bird demonstrations at Croton Point Park near Ossining, NY.

This year I made it up a little late and sit in for a couple of bird talks, which allowed me to take some photos up-close with birds of prey. Afterward, I drove to the New Croton Dam, one of the designated bald eagle viewing areas, to snap some photos of the waterfall below the dam. What an awesome place right here in our backyard.
