Alex Rodriguez held court this week in Tampa, Fla. after reporting to Yankees Spring Training and said all the right things a year after a day he’d like to forget.
I shot Army’s lacrosse season opener last weekend at a snow-filled Michie Stadium in West Point. Army beat Virginia Military Institute (VMI) 11-9 on a chilly but pretty nice, sunny day.
Not to sound too dramatic, but beating Navy, at home, in a nationally televised game? Perfect. I had a good feeling about Saturday while driving up to West Point earlier that morning.
I’m glued to the Vancouver Olympics this week and it’s really making me want to shoot skiing again. I had the incredible opportunity of shooting the New York state high school skiing championships a couple years ago up in Lake Placid, N.Y., the home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games.
Army kicked off it’s spring workout/practice “season” today at West Point (it snowed) and one notable bit of news is that starting fullback Kingsley Ehie will now be a linebacker heading into the 2010 fall season.
A lot is being made this past week or so about the Yankees’ impending contract talks with captain Derek Jeter and closer Mariano Rivera. That’s nothing new — New York media is a joke and will inflate anything they can with drama.
Being it was Valentine’s Day (ugh) and I needed to get my mind off of that fact, I packed up my gear in the Escape and drove up the Palisades to West Point yesterday for my first Army women’s basketball game.
There’s still plenty of time to get out and look for bald eagles this winter in the New York area, and I thought a map of the Hudson River region with some hot spots would be helpful.
Need to show some love to Nanuet’s own Tom Hanney, the senior quarterback who led my old high school to the New York State championship game this past fall.
Mohonk is pretty much my favorite place ever. A show ran on the Travel Channel and features a lot of the Hudson River valley, including afternoon tea at Mohonk Mountain House.
