Firstie photos and cadet portraits at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point

Interested in booking a firstie photo session at West Point? Contact Danny today for availability!

A typical shoot lasts 60-90 minutes around Trophy Point at West Point. Most cadets opt for spring or autumn shoots, and weekends work best for me (Sundays in autumn). You’ll receive a link afterward to view and download all the images we take. Each session is $300.

Weekends, for the most part. I work in NYC during the week

Around Trophy Point -- the area overlooking the Hudson River with Battle Monument; I like working in the historic elements there like the chain and the cannons. Other great spots include the plain, the Beat Navy tunnel, around the Superintendent's house and garden, the sallyport at Pershing Barracks, alongside statues. or any colorful trees we can find, etc. If you have a specific spot in mind -- the chapel, Michie, Lusk, the Firstie, the Buffalo Soldiers monument, Arvin, South Dock, etc -- just let me know ahead of time so we can budget our time to drive around.

Hard to say -- mid to late April, probably? April 20-25 might be peak? Depends on weather and how cooperative the trees at West Point want to be

We'd want to reschedule, rain and gray wool jackets don't mix well

I use natural light and try to capture real moments and emotions (unless your cadet is too cool and won't smile)

No, I send all the images via WeTransfer so you'll receive an email with a link to download everything -- typically hundreds of images. You can share it with whoever you'd like and print up whatever you want

Usually I shoot those for the football players

Assuming it's the dress uniform, bring along your class ring, sword and cap. Some like to take the black parade cap, too. If you have other rings, jackets or items you want to include to further tell the story of your journey, bring 'em!

Sure, they can jump in for photos and/or we can have two sessions at once if both want that

Probably Oct. 15-Nov. 5 or so. I'm with the football team most Saturdays in fall, so Sundays are usually my only days then. Depends on the football schedule

I have Canon cameras and lenses
