Cadets fall to Navy

Army surrendered a nice lead in the second half today in a 62-56 loss to Navy in Annapolis. Not a good afternoon for first-year head coach Zack Spiker:

Tonight I’m headed up to West Point for the Army-UCONN hockey game — the cadets blanked the Huskies on Friday, 5-0, so I’m hoping for more of the same tonight. Army drew a pretty big crowd last night so I’m looking forward to a loud Tate Rink. Puck drops at 7 pm… photos to follow.

And totally unrelated, Rick Ankiel signed a pretty huge one-year contract with Kansas City this week, leaving the organization that helped him turn around his remarkable career. He had a good season a couple years ago, but — and I admit, I really like Rick, he had a pretty crummy year in 2009… .231-11-38 in 122 games for St. Louis. And that earned him a $3.25 million deal from the Royals, who are in no position to be dropping that kind of cash on a struggling outfielder. Build around Greinke, jeez…
