Hassin photo featured in New York Times

My photo of Army sophomore fullback Jared Hassin as seen in the Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 edition of the New York Times.

I did not see the Army-Air Force game (was at a wedding), but I did get a surprise Saturday morning when I grabbed some guy’s New York Times, swiped the sports section and opened it up to find my photo of Army fullback Jared Hassin taking a handoff against Temple earlier this season on page D3.

It’s a cool story, too, about Hassin’s journey from being a West Point fan as a kid, to joining Air Force, and then, after transferring service academies, finding his way into the starting lineup against the Falcons on Saturday.

My original photo of Hassin taking a handoff up the middle from Trent Steelman and getting a block from Frank Allen. (Danny Wild/USMA)

And here’s what it looks like in print:

The story tells of Hassin's longing to wear the No. 7 jersey at West Point.
The photo as seen on the New York Times’ website.
My photo of Josh McNary in the New York Daily News.

This one comes after my photo of senior DE Josh McNary appeared in the New York Daily News last month.

I heard Yankees manager Joe Girardi was in the press box at Michie on Saturday, along with Boomer Esiason. Here’s some photos from the game from the AP’s Craig Ruttle. Also not good, Navy put up 76 points in their win on Saturday.

For those who saw the game, what did you think? What went wrong?
