Army named it’s new captains for the 2010-11 ice hockey season earlier today, which gives me a quick excuse to post some photos of the newly-crowned leaders.

Seniors Cody Omilusik and Pat Copeland have been named captains and senior goalie Jay Clark and junior Marcel Alvarez will take alternate captain roles, according to head coach Brian Riley.

Army’s full release on the news can be found here.

Omilusik and Copeland replace graduating senior Eric Sefchik with the “C.” Omilusik has played in 106 games, scored 40 goals and added 37 assists. He’s got four game-winners too.

“Cody is everything you want in a hockey player,” said Riley. “He battles for pucks, pushes his teammates and outworks his opponents.”

“The thing that stands out about Clark is his preparation and focus,” said Riley. “From the moment he arrives at the rink, all of his energy is on getting better and having a great workout. He brings the same intensity to games. With our style of play, we need a backstop and Clark has proven to be that time and time again.”

Army, coming off an 11-18-7 season, is in the midst of off-season workouts. They fell to Air Force in the first round of the playoffs this winter.
